There goes the sweet sound of the horn that permits employees’ departure from the shipyard. Another day, another dollar as they say, if the no running rule wasn’t highly enforced people would be sprinting out of the gates. Speed walking is a technique definitely used at the end of the shift, but Ronald strolled, it was eight o’clock and he was too tired to power walk. Besides he walked to his house not to a car; a lot of the guys speeding out of the gates lived in Carolina or hours away, Ronald on the other hand got home in fifteen minutes on foot.
The whole way home he thought about his wife wondering if she was home. A lot of times she had late appointments but “no matter,” he mumbled to himself, “she’s always home before ten.” Ronald was anxious to see her; Kenya was not only his wife she was also his best friend.
